2008 – 2009
Welcome to 7th Grade Reading
This class focuses on improving reading skills using a variety of resources. Students will read novels, magazines, newspapers, fiction, non-fiction, and textbooks.
A comprehensive approach to reading will be utilized. This means students will read out loud, listen to books on tape, read with partners and read silently.
Some of the skills students will concentrate on include Main Idea, Setting, Plot, Predicting, Character Analysis, Point of View, Comparing and Contrasting, and Figurative Language.
In addition, technology will be used to enhance students’ response to reading using online writing tools, collaborative writing and peer editing.

Homework
-
The homework that I assign prepares the student to be able to participate in class the next day – it is extremely important that homework be done whenever it is assigned
-
Homework is written on the board and should be copied into the planner each day – if there is no HW assigned, that should be noted in the planner as well
-
Not doing HW can kill a GPA
All assignments are expected to be handed in on the due date unless the student is absent on that date. Those assignments will be due on the next day the student is in school. Make up work for absences will be handled according to PPCMS policies.
